Figs (Injeer)

Figs (Injeer) is a dried fruit the fruit is commonly called as fig and when it is dried it is used as a dry fruit called Injeer. It is a very beneficial fruit. We will discuss the benefits of this fruit in this article later.

Figs in Quran

The Quraan says:

"I swear by the Fig and the Olive"

[QURAN 95:1]

Fig plant is one of the only five plants mentioned in the Quraan, along with olives, grapes, pomegranate and dates.

Figs (Injeer) in Hadith

he Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,

"Eat fig for it cures the piles and is useful for rheumatism"

[Sahih Bukhari]

he Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,

"Eat figs! If I would say a certain type of fruit was sent down to us from the heavens I would say it’s a fig because it has no seeds. It ends (cures) the piles and is useful for rheumatism"

he Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said,

"If you say that any fruit has come from Paradise, then you must mention the fig, for indeed it is the fruit of Paradise. So eat of it, for it is a cure for piles and helps gout."

Good for diabetic patients

The American Diabetes Association recommends figs for a high fiber treat. Fig leaves reduce the amount of insulin needed by diabetic patients who have to take insulin injection. Fig is rich in Potassium. Potassium helps to control blood sugar. Fig leaves have anti-diabetic properties

Figs contains Pectin, a soluble fiber. When fiber goes through the digestive system, it mops up globes of cholesterol and carries them out of body.
